Althea Beauty Lifeguard Box Review [Picture-heavy]

QUICK NOTE: I'll be reviewing the cushion and the eye primer first since I forgot to take a picture of the mascara, the lip tint and the makeup fixer. I'll update this over the weekend. Sorry T_T

Hey lovelies! I'm back with another review and this time it's a beauty box from Althea! If you didn't know, a beauty box is a package containing different products that fit the box's theme. Althea has a lot of beauty boxes available online. For example, if you're someone who wants to get rid of large pores, Althea has a beauty box specifically for getting rid of large pores! There is one for the special guys in your life too! You may think that it costs a lot since a box contains a lot of products but lo and behold! You save a lot of money when purchasing a beauty box~

Today I'll be reviewing Althea's Beauty Lifeguard Box. Perfect for the weather here in the Philippines. If you live in a hot, humid country, this box is perfect! It has products that are waterproof and will help your makeup stay on all day.

Disclaimer: This product was sent to me free of charge and for review purposes only. All thoughts and opinions on the product will remain honest and of my own.

These are the products that you get in the box:

On the website it says that this box costs P1,100. If you buy all the items separately, it's P5,050. Big savings, right? Also, the products come FULL SIZED.

My beauty box came in the mail well-packaged as usual. Very pink, too.

They do not scrimp on the bubble wrap at all, which is great because it gives you assurance that your orders arrive safe.

So let's start by reviewing the Tony Moly BCDation OiOi Waterproof Cushion in Warm Beige (that's a long-ass name lol).

Here's the product info from Althea:

The banana design is SO CUTE.

Here it is swatched on my arm:

Here is a pic with and without the product: (click to enlarge)

Here's my review:

PROS:

  • I love that it wasn't overly white. It was warmer and a bit darker compared to the shades that Korean makeup have in the market.
  • It dries down matte and it did control the oiliness of my skin for about an extra 2 hours.
  • It has medium coverage. Buildable, and it won't cake your face.
  • It's lightweight.
  • It didn't budge at all even after sweating a lot that day. (but set it with powder!)
  • Covers *some* pores. (I had to go back in on the pores on my nose but this is not a problem if you don't have large pores)
  • Did not oxidize.
CONS:
  • It dries quickly so you have to work on one area at a time.
  • It was a bit difficult to blend out. (you can fix this by making the sponge damp, or using a damp makeup sponge)
Overall, I think it's a good product especially for my oily-skinned people out there. If you have dry skin, you're gonna have a bad time with this product.

Next up, VDL Eye Primer in Serenity. Here's the product info from Althea:

Don't be intimidated by the color! It will blend out beautifully!

Here's what it looks like blended out:

It makes your eyelid look radiant and glowing. No worries, it won't make you look like you're missing the 90's shimmery, blue eyeshadow trend, unless of course you wear it on its own.

Here's a comparison. I swatched a shimmery and a matte eyeshadow on the back of my hand ONCE. On the left with primer and on the right without the primer.

See the difference? With the primer (left), the eyeshadows swatched waaaaay more pigmented than the ones on the right. It also swatched smoother. Again, those are just from one swipe using my finger.

On to the review:

PROS:

  • Eyeshadows swatch smoother and more pigmented
  • Makes the eyeshadow stay longer on the lids
  • Does not crease as long as it dried completely
  • Application won't be patchy as long as you don't apply eyeshadow on while it's wet
  • Makes eyeshadows easier to blend
  • Not sticky on the lids
  • Won't make your eyelids oilier

CONS:

  • Takes quite some time to dry completely so if you're in a hurry, skip this
That's the only con I can think of, really. lol

So that's it for my review on Althea's Beauty Lifeguard Box. I'll update this ASAP with the mascara, lip tattoo, and makeup fixer review. I got quite sick recently and I forgot to take a picture of the products itself. Hope you guys like this review!

  1. Hi! How do you think the lighter shade of tonymoly cushion would look on you? Would it still match your skin tone?
